On behalf of the Rotary Club of Wyndham Harbour Rotary, our sponsor Jazz Real Estate and David Mullins, plus our judges. We would like to thank everyone that participated in the competition.
All entries were really unique and we hope that this competition has made kids more aware of their environment which is the first step in preserving the earth.
The standard of photography and the quality of the stories submitted made judging the winner no easy task.
We hope you enjoyed taking part and hope that you continue to take photos and writing about your experiences.
The club hopes to roll out a similar competition in the nearest future as part of our environmental initiatives.

You know when you walk up to a stranger and try to become their friend? It takes time for them to connect with you. They don’t just make friends with you on the spot because you need time to get to know them and get more familiar with their face over time. The more you get to know them, the more you will start to be good friends. It’s the same with animals like magpies. Magpies are often called pests and feared because in spring they swoop above people who get too close to their nest. But this is only because they are protecting their babies or because they are scared themselves!
I also used to a bit scared of the magpies in our backyard. But slowly I started feeding them and became friends with them. Now the magpies will eat bread out of my hands! This is no different to humans. Even my dad was protectively chasing the nurses around when I was born. So why are we scared of the magpies swooping over us in the first place? Well, the main reason is because we are just defending other people from getting hurt or scared of getting hurt ourselves. And when you actually realise there is really is no reason of being scared of magpies and when you become friends with the magpies, they treat you like you are their best friend. If you are lucky, they will show you their babies. And now “Maggie” the magpie visits us with a baby waddling behind him. Magpies are not scary you just need to give them a bit of space and food.
Congratulations Joshua you have won a $100 gift voucher - Sponsored by Jazz Real estate.
I really like this picture because it has a full rainbow with lots of bright and beautiful colours. It also has a huge ocean underneath it looks amazing. The rainbow looks really cool because it seems like it is growing out of the ocean. This was the first time a saw a full and proper rainbow that is so bright and full of colours. This was at a harbour where there were lots of rocks and people fishing. The ocean looks like it will go on forever from here. The rainbow is a really beautiful natural wonder!
Congratulations Avika you have won a $50 gift voucher - Sponsored by Jazz Real estate.
The Breezeway
This photo is one of my favourites because it shows a huge part of me………….Singing.Its like every soft breeze is a note. When I took this picture I felt the wind hitting me every 5 seconds and used them as notes.I created a song in my head with all the notes. All the notes just fell in place.I keep humming the tune because now that’s my Feel-Good tune.
That’s my version of the story behind this lovely picture from my evening walks❤️

This photo took my attention because it was taken on Valentine’s Day, and shows a love story. On the feathers, it’s creates a love heart shape. This connects me with nature because it shows that there is beauty all around you if you look closely. If was a beautiful sight that looked like if had come right out of a fairytale.
