The Rotary Club of Wyndham Harbour would like to express our utmost gratitude to all the participants who entered the Wyndham Harbour Photography Competition 2023. We had 55 entries from children aged 6 to 12, and your remarkable creativity and passion for nature shone through in every entry. We were absolutely thrilled to see so many incredible photographs that truly captured the beauty of the world around us. We recognize and appreciate the time and effort that each participant put into their entries, and for sharing their unique perspectives and experiences with us. Your talents and passion for photography inspire us all, and we hope that this competition has encouraged you to continue exploring the wonders of the natural world through your camera lens.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsor, Jazz Real Estate, for their generous support in promoting the creativity of young photographers. Jazz Real Estate is a community-minded business that graciously supports the community and its various initiatives. Without their support, this competition would not have been possible.
Special thanks go to our project organizer, Mamode Osikoya, for her tireless efforts in making this competition a huge success. Mamode's dedication to environmental and sustainability issues is an inspiration to us all.
Our heartfelt thanks also go to our judges, Demos Mitchell, Becky Cui, and Lisa Heinrichs, for volunteering their time and expertise to carefully evaluate each photograph and select the winning entries. Their meticulous consideration and thoughtful evaluation ensured that the competition was conducted in a fair and equitable manner for all participants. We cannot thank them enough for their dedication to promoting the arts and the environment through their involvement in this competition.
And now, without further ado, we are thrilled to announce the winners of the Rotary Club of Wyndham Harbour Photography Competition 2023:

This photo resembles my connection to nature because of all the stories I read when I was little. I would love reading books about fairytales and enchanted forests which you would always see the neatest little mushrooms and toadstools at the bottom of the pages I would read so often. When I see mushrooms and toadstools in real life it not only connects me to natu
Second Place: Lyra Chen. Aged 10.
The birds inside are mostly rescue birds that are unable to be set free again into the wild, so they are taken care of in the aviary. Although they live in harmony with people now, I still feel sorry for them. I understand the importance to keep the great nature clean and give the wildlife their true freedom in the wild. When a peacock there is about to fly I use

Sunset
The stunning sunset took my breath away as it set the whole sky ablaze. The slanted rays caused the sky to have a warm orange hue. The light reflected on the peaceful water, turning it a shade of orange too. It was so mesmerizing that I just had to take a picture.
